Origin of the name: In all likelihood linked to the word “escudo” (shield) in Spanish and Portuguese. The plots are situated just above Clos des Fèves, on a bedrock. Limestone and clay soil, stony for the part planted in Pinot Noir and marly limestone for the part planted in Chardonnay.
