Site : A very small single vineyard shared between Chanson and the Hospices de Beaune on a hump of the hill of Corton. The vineyard used to belong to Charles Gravier, Count of Vergennes, born in Dijon, who was counselor to Louis XVI. Count of Vergennes signed with Benjamin Franklin the Treaty of Alliance between France and the United States. With this Treaty France was the first country in the world to recognize the United States of America.
The Vintage 2022 : After a winter characterized by marked variations in temperature between January and February, spring started with mild temperatures. A sequence of cold weather in April was followed by warm temperatures in May but the lack of water was very noticeable and could not be compensated by the rainy storms of June. Summer was marked by several and long heat waves and the storms of the end of August were most welcome. The harvest at Chanson started on August 30 with a team of 100 persons and ended on September 13. 2022 vintage was quite generous both in volume and quality and the white wines are well-balanced, precise and refreshing.
Tasting : Bright gold color. Hawthorn fragrances mixed with aromas of apple, quince and pale fleshed fruit on a hint of spice. Subtle minerality. Well-balanced, broad-based and complex. Deep, tight and rich texture. Well-crafted oak note. Long and refined finish with a hint of spice. Food pairing : Seafood, foie gras, fish in a creamy sauce, crayfish. Particularly great with a selection of French cheeses.
