Viré-Clessé 2009
Grape Variety : Chardonnay
Soil : Clay and limestone
Site : In the heart of the Mâcon wine growing region, South of Burgundy. The two villages Viré and Clessé form a unique "terroir" on slopes facing South-East. This is one of the best white wines of the region combining suppleness and minerality.
The Vintage 2009 : After a cold winter and a beautiful spring, the hot summer was interrupted by stormy intervals which fortuitously took place when needed and thus facilitated growth and good maturation of the grapes. Harvest began early September with excellent weather conditions.
Tasting : Pale gold colour. Floral fragrances mixed with ripe citrus aromas enhanced by a beautiful minerality. Crisp attack followed by a rich textured palate. Very pure aromas. Refreshing and mineral finish.
Food pairing : A fine, dry apéritif, great with light seafood and raw vegetable hors d'oeuvres.
