Viré-Clessé 2005
Grape Variety : Chardonnay
Soil : Clay and limestone
Site : In the heart of the Mâcon winegrowing region, South of Burgundy. The two villages Viré and Clessé form a unique "terroir" on slopes facing Southeast. This is one of the best white wines of the region combining suppleness and minerality.
The Vintage 2005 : Exceptional after a superb growing season - cold winter, rainy spring followed by hot and dry summer. Grapes picked at optimum ripeness and in perfect health, hence a minimum sorting was required.
Tasting : Pale gold colour. Floral fragrances mixed with exotic notes enhanced by a delicate minerality. Very fresh, well-structured and well-balanced. Beautiful aromatic combination. Harmonious aftertaste.
Food pairing : A fine, dry apéritif, great with light seafood and clean vegetable-driven hors d'oeuvres.
