Viré-Clessé 2004
Grape Variety : Chardonnay
Soil : Clay and limestone
Site : In the heart of the Mâcon wine growing region, South of Burgundy. The two villages Viré and Clessé form a unique "terroir" on slopes facing Southeast. This is one of the best white wines of the region combining suppleness and minerality.
The Vintage 2004 : Harvest took place at the end of September after an alternation of cool and sunny weather ideal for the maturation of the grapes
Tasting : Fresh, well balanced, well structured and crisp. Temperature-controlled (cold) fermentation enhances the appealing lemony/appley sprightliness. Concentrated, slightly mineral with a refreshing, crisp finish. Gold Medal - Concours "Mundus Vini - Internationale Weinakademie" - September 2005
Food pairing : A fine, dry apéritif, great with oysters, light seafood and clean vegetable-driven hors d'oeuvres.
