Savigny-lès-Beaune Hauts Marconnets
1er Cru
1998

Grape Variety : Chardonnay

Soil : Marl, chalk and limestone.

Site : Savigny white wines are very unusual, the vineyard produces indeed essentially red wines. The particular nature of the soil "Hauts Marconnets" with Marl, chalk and limestone encouraged Chanson to Chardonnay. The vineyard of 2,18 hectares is ideally situated high up in the hill of Savigny, facing south-east, close to the hills of Beaune 1er Crus.

The Vintage 1998 : Harvest took place at the end of September after a late Summer. It was as a whole homogeneous. Aging in cask during 12 months.

Tasting : Beautiful gold colour. Intense aromas of grilled almonds, exotic fruits (mango). Delicate, harmonious and well-structured. Good aromatic complexity. Elegant oak notes.

Food pairing : Shellfish, fish and some cheeses (like goat cheese).
