Saint-Véran 2011
Grape Variety : Chardonnay
Soil : Clay and limestone
Site : The Saint Véran vineyards are located in the very South of the Maconnais area on the communes of Saint Vérand, Chânes, Chasselas, Leynes, Prissé and Davayé.
The Vintage 2011 : After a cold winter and a very warm spring, the weather at the start of summer was quite demanding. It became fine again from early September. The harvest commenced in mid-September in perfect conditions to harvest fully ripe grapes. Careful selection of grapes in the vineyard and winery has produced very pure white wines, with an outstanding acidity.
Tasting : Pale gold colour. Floral fragrances mixed with citrus fruit and fresh almonds enhanced by a delicate minerality. Well-structured and well-crafted. Beautiful minerality underlined by a well-shaped acidity. Refreshing aftertaste.
Food pairing : Charcuteries, sea-food, fish, snails as well as some goat cheeses.
