Puligny-Montrachet 2001
Grape Variety : Chardonnay
Soil : Clay and limestone
Site : In the south of the Côte de Beaune, on the village of Puligny Montrachet, in this very special area which produces some of the greatest White Burgundies.
The Vintage 2001 : Harvest took place at the end of September after a late Summer. It was as a whole homogeneous but the "tri", sorting of the grapes was drastic to keep only the very ripe berries.
Tasting : Bright gold colour. Aromas of exotic fruit (mango) mixed with almond on a beautiful vanilla-note. Elegant, appealing. Beautiful fruit combination enhanced by a subtle spicy note. Complex, well-structured, generous with a long finish.
Food pairing : Seafood, fish, mild cheeses as well as certain goat cheeses.
