Pommard Epenots
1er Cru
2005

Grape Variety : Pinot Noir

Soil : Chalk mixed with silt and clay

Site : One of the most famous Premier Cru vineyards in Pommard situated on mid slope. South-East orientation

The Vintage 2005 : Harvest took place in the early days of September after a dry and very hot summer after a superb growing season - long and cold winter followed by a rainy and humid spring. Exceptional weather conditions for an exceptional vintage. Full maturation of the grapes and good concentration. Aging in oak cask during 15 months

Tasting : Dark ruby colour. Intense aromas of red ripe berries mixed with toffees and a hint of leather on a delicate vanilla note. Generous, powerful, with a lot of breed and a marked terroir character. Well-shaped oak note. Solid tannins and good persistence.

Food pairing : To be enjoyed with red meat, grilled or marinated, games, matured cheeses.
