Pommard Epenots
1er Cru
2002
Grape Variety : Pinot Noir
Soil : Chalk mixed with silt and clay
Site : One of the most famous Premier Cru vineyards in Pommard situated on mid slope. South-East orientation
The Vintage 2002 : The harvest took place at the end of September, several days after the official beginning of the harvest in order to obtain the best possible maturation of the berries. Excellent weather conditions prevailed in August and September and hence the good quality of the grapes. A severe pruning had been carried out in July 2002 to limit yields. Aging in oak casks during 18 months
Tasting : Bright ruby colour with purple tinges. Intense aromas of kirsch cherries, red jammy fruits on a chocolate note enhanced by a hint of vanilla. Well-structured, generous, good aromatic combination with nice tannic structure, strong potential, good persistence.
Food pairing : To be enjoyed with red meat, grilled or marinated, games, matured cheeses.
