Pernand-Vergelesses Les Vergelesses
1er Cru
2008
Grape Variety : Pinot Noir
Soil : Clay and limestone
Site : South of the hill of Corton Chanson owns a vineyard of 5.4 hectares in "Les Vergelesses", the most famous Premier Cru in Pernand which has given its name to the village. The soil - stony on the upper part of the plot and clayey at the bottom of the plot - gives a powerful and complex wine.
The Vintage 2008 : After a beautiful spring, the weather at the start of summer was quite demanding. It became fine again from the end of August with much sun and a cold wind, which aided concentration of flavours. The harvest commenced in mid-September in perfect conditions under an Indian summer. Aging in oak during 15 months
Tasting : Bright ruby colour. Refreshing aromas of red berries mixed with spices. Concentrated and generous. Tight texture. Very pure fruit aromas with fine grained but present tannins. Long aftertaste on the fruit.
Food pairing : Enjoy with grilled steak and a wide selection of French cheeses, in particular Brie.
