Pernand-Vergelesses Les Vergelesses
1er Cru
2007
Grape Variety : Pinot Noir
Soil : Clay and limestone
Site : South of the hill of Corton Chanson owns a vineyard of 5.4 hectares in "Les Vergelesses", the most famous Premier Cru in Pernand which has given its name to the village. The soil - stony on the upper part of the plot and clayey at the bottom of the plot - gives a powerful and complex wine.
The Vintage 2007 : If there is a vintage in which Pinot Noir most fully expresses itself, it is in 2007. The dry North wined which prevailed in September gave rise to an exceptional phenolic ripeness, a deep purple colour, beautiful crunchy flesh and an explosion of red fruits marvelously combined with the minerality of the terroirs. Aged in French oak during 16 months.
Tasting : Bright ruby colour. Refreshing aromas of red berries mixed with liquorice and spices. Concentrated and complex. Good density. Very pure fruit aromas with fine grained but present tannins. Long and refreshing aftertaste.
Food pairing : Enjoy with grilled steak and a wide selection of French cheeses, in particular Brie.
