Nuits Saint Georges 1er Cru les Vaucrains 2015

Les Vaucrains
1er Cru

Grape Variety : Pinot Noir

Soil : Clay and limestone

Site : The area of production of the Nuits Saint Georges Premiers Crus is split up into two areas : North and South of the Commune of Nuits Saint Georges. This Premier Cru "Chaînes Carteaux" is located South of Nuits Saint Georges, nearly at the border with the village of Premeaux, in the very heart of the Premiers Crus, where the structure of the soil is light and produces wines which are at the same time well-structured and generous.

The Vintage 2015 : After a cold winter and a mild spring, the weather conditions in summer were ideal with cold nights and warm days and enabled a perfect maturation of the grapes. The harvest started early September under a bright sunshine. Vinification : after a whole bunch fermentation during two weeks, the red wines are aged in wooden casks in our cellars of the XVth century for a period of 15 to 18 months. Moderate proportion of new oak.

Tasting : Bright ruby colour. Intense aromas of ripe red berries (cherry) liquorice and spices. Subtle vanilla note. Well-balanced and complex. Tight and delicate texture. Elegant tannins. Very pure fruit. Long and spicy finish.

Food pairing : To be enjoyed with red meat grilled or en sauce and all the local cheeses (Epoisses, Citeaux, Brillat-Savarin)
