Gevrey-Chambertin Lavaut Saint-Jacques
1er Cru 2009
Grape Variety : Pinot Noir
Soil : Clay and limstone
Site : This climat "Lavaut Saint-Jacques" is located in the western part of Gevrey Chambertin, on the road which leads in the Montagne to the "Combe de Lavaut". The plot selected is located mid slope with an excellent south-east exposure.
The Vintage 2009 : After a cold winter and a beautiful spring, the hot summer was interrupted by stormy intervals which fortuitously took place when needed and thus facilitated growth and good maturation of the grapes. Harvest began early September with excellent weather conditions. Aging in oak during 17 months.
Tasting : Dark ruby colour. Intense aromas of raspberry and cooked cherries mixed with sweet spices and a delicate vanilla note. Generous and well-crafted. Deep and tight texture. Refined tannins. Delicate and smooth oak note. Long aftertaste with spicy nuances.
Food pairing : It is perfectly matched with red meat grilled or en sauce and all cheeses, especially the local cheeses like Epoisses or Citeaux.
