Beaune Clos du Roi
1er Cru 2015

Grape Variety : Pinot Noir

Soil : Limestone with clay

Site : The vineyard of "Clos du Roi" is located below "Les Marconnets" on a fold in the hill. This old property of the Dukes of Burgundy was annexed by King Louis XI of France after the death of Charles the Bold. Chanson owns around 3 ha, i.e. 35% of the total climat appelation. 2/3 of the surface owned by Chanson are planted with Pinot Noir.

The Vintage 2015 : After a cold winter and a mild spring, the weather conditions in Summer were ideal with cold nights and warm days and enabled a perfect maturation of the grapes. The harvest started early September under a bright sunshine. Vinification : after a whole bunch fermentation during two weeks, the red wines are aged in wooden casks in our cellars of the XVth century for a period of 15 to 18 months. Moderate proportion of new oak.

Tasting : Bright ruby colour. Fragrances of violet mixed with intense aromas of ripe red berries (cherry) liquorice and spices. Subtle vanilla note. Well-balanced and complex. Tight and delicate texture. Elegant tannins. Very pure fruit. Long and spicy finish.

Food pairing : To be enjoyed with red meat grilled or en sauce and French cheeses (Epoisses, Citeaux or goat).
