Beaune Clos des Mouches Pinot Noir
1er Cru
2012
Grape Variety : Pinot Noir
Soil : Marl with sandy yellow limestone
Site : Chanson is one of the major owners of Clos des Mouches with a vineyard of 4.5 hectares. Ideal location on the hill at the southern end of the vineyards of Beaune on a spur pointing toward Pommard. A plot of 2.5 hectares is planted with Pinot Noir on a limestone subsoil covered with clay.
The Vintage 2012 : After a very cold winter and a cold spring, the weather at the start of summer was quite demanding. It became fine again in the second half of August with hot temperatures. The harvest commenced early September under a bright sunshine. The combination of all those climatic factors has engendered a significant drop of the yields but quality is there. Meticulous vinifications have produced wines with very pure aromas and a very fresh structure. Aging in oak casks during 14 months.
Tasting : Dark ruby colour. Floral notes mixed Intense aromas of strawberries, cherries mixed with an array of spices. Complex and well-balanced. Refined, precise with a beautiful texture. Harmonious oak note. Long and elegant aftertaste with a beautiful expression of fruit, spice and minerality. Score : 93 Burgundy - Special Report - Tim Atkin/2014
Food pairing : Can be enjoyed with red meat, grilled or "en sauce" and our local cheeses like Epoisses, Citeaux and Langres.
