Beaune Clos des Mouches Pinot Noir
1er Cru
2010
Grape Variety : Pinot Noir
Soil : Marl with sandy yellow limestone
Site : Chanson is one of the major owners of Clos des Mouches with a vineyard of 4.5 hectares. Ideal location on the hill at the southern end of the vineyards of Beaune on a spur pointing toward Pommard . A plot of 2.5 hectares is planted with Pinot Noir on a limestone subsoil covered with clay.
The Vintage 2010 : The weather at the start of summer was quite demanding. It became fine again from the end of August with much sun and a north wind, which aided concentration of flavours and gave rise to an exceptional phenolic maturity. The harvest commenced in mid-September in perfect conditions under an Indian summer. This results in red wines with a crunchy flesh and an explosion of red fruits marvelously combined with the minerality of the terroirs. Aged in French oak during 16 months.
Tasting : Dark ruby colour. Intense aromas of raspberry and cherry blossom with a hint of cocoa and an array of spices. Complex, refined and well-balanced. Beautiful texture. Harmonious oak note and fine grained tannins. Good persistence with a touch of cocoa at the end.
Food pairing : Can be enjoyed with red meat, grilled or "en sauce" and our local cheeses like Epoisses, Citeaux and Langres.
