Beaune Clos des Mouches Pinot Noir
1er Cru
2008
Grape Variety : Pinot Noir
Soil : Marl with sandy yellow limestone
Site : Chanson is one of the major owners of Clos des Mouches with a vineyard of 4.5 hectares. Ideal location on the hill at the southern end of the vineyards of Beaune on a spur pointing toward Pommard. A plot of 2.5 hectares is planted with Pinot Noir on a limestone subsoil covered with clay with the ground rock close to the surface. This soil combination produces wines with an elegant texture.
The Vintage 2008 : After a beautiful spring, the weather at the start of summer was quite demanding. It became fine again from the end of August with much sun and a cold wind, which aided concentration of flavours. The harvest commenced in mid-September in perfect conditions under an Indian summer. Aging in oak during 16 months
Tasting : Dark ruby colour. Intense aromas of cherry jam mixed with liquorice a hint of cocoa. Delicate vanilla note. Complex and well-structured. Beautiful texture. Harmonious oak note and elegant tannins. Long and lingering finish. Wine Enthusiast - Sept. 2011 : Score 91 Burghound - April 2010 : Score 91
Food pairing : Can be enjoyed with red meat, grilled or "en sauce" and our local cheeses like Epoisses, Citeaux and Langres.
