Beaune Clos des Mouches Pinot Noir
1er Cru
2001

Grape Variety : Pinot Noir

Soil : Mix of limestone and clay

Site : Chanson is one of the major owners of Clos des Mouches with a vineyard of 4.5 hectares. Ideal location on the hill at the southern end of the vineyards of Beaune on a spur pointing toward Pommard . A plot of 2.5 hectares is planted with Pinot Noir on a limestone subsoil covered with clay.

The Vintage 2001 : Harvest took place at the end of September after a late Summer. It was as a whole homogeneous but the "tri", sorting of the grapes was drastic to keep only the very ripe berries. Aging in oak cask during 18 months.

Tasting : Ruby red with purple tinges. Pungent bouquet of red berries and spices with a subtle note of vanilla. The wine is elegant and racy and develops aromas of red berries on the palate. It is well-balanced, concentrated and full-bodied with soft oaky flavours and a well-integrated tannic structure.

Food pairing : Enjoy with grilled or marinated red meat, and a wide selection of French cheeses.
