Site : Chanson is one of the major owners of Clos des Mouches with a vineyard of 4.5 hectares. Ideal location on the hill at the southern end of the vineyards of Beaune on a spur pointing toward Pommard . A plot of 2.5 hectares is planted with Pinot Noir on a limestone subsoil covered with clay.
The Vintage 1996 : The weather at the start of summer was quite demanding. However, the sun appeared appeared at the beginning of September continued throughout September. The harvest commenced in the last weeks of September in perfect conditions.
Tasting : Ruby red with light orange tinges. Aromas of cooked red fruit and plum mixed with gingerbread and enhanced by a subtle note of vanilla. The wine is elegant and racy. It is well-balanced and full-bodied with soft oaky flavours and a well-integrated tannic structure.
Food pairing : Enjoy with grilled or marinated red meat, and a wide selection of French cheeses.
