Beaune Clos des Mouches Chardonnay
1er Cru 2002

Grape Variety : Chardonnay

Soil : Limestone, clay and silica

Site : Chanson is one of the major owners of Clos des Mouches with a vineyard of 4.5 hectares. Ideal location on the hill at the southern end of the vineyards of Beaune on a spur pointing toward Pommard . A plot of 2 hectares on the upper side of the hill is planted with Chardonnay on a limestone subsoil covered with sand.

The Vintage 2002 : The harvest took place at the end of September, several days after the official beginning of the harvest in order to obtain the best possible maturation of the berries. Excellent weather conditions prevailed in August and September and hence the good quality of the grapes. A severe pruning had been carried out to limit yields. Aging in oak casks during 10 months.

Tasting : Pale colour with emerald tinges. Floral fragrances mixed with white flesh of fresh fruit (peach, mango) and green almond underlined by a vanilla note. Elegant, full-bodied, well-balanced, concentrated, beautiful aromatic combination of fresh fruit enhanced by a subtle oak note. Well-structured, harmonious and good persistence.

Food pairing : To be enjoyed with seafood, shell-fish, fish and goat's cheese.
