Beaune Clos des Marconnets
1er Cru 2013

Grape Variety : Pinot Noir

Soil : Limestone with clay

Site : "Les Marconnets" are located in the Northern hint of the Appelation Beaune 1er Cru. The name of this vineyard referred to the german tribe "Marcomans". Chanson owns 4 ha, i.e, 40% of the vineyard.

The Vintage 2013 : After a very cold winter and a cool and humid spring, the weather became really fine and warm end of July. The sunny weather and the warm temperatures engendered a slow ripening process of the grapes. The harvest commenced mid September under a bright sunshine. The combination of all those climatic factors associated with meticulous vinifications have produced wines with very pure aromas and a crunchy texture. Aging in oak casks during 16 months.

Tasting : Deep ruby colour. Floral notes of rose petal mixed with aromas of raspberry jam and black cherries on a hint of mild spices. Subtle vanilla note. Well-structured with a complex texture. Very pure fruit. Energetic and tension-filled. Firm base of tannins. Long finish. Burghound : Score 90-93 - April 2014

Food pairing : To be enjoyed with white or red meat, grilled or roasted, games and all sorts of cheeses especially all the cheeses produces in Burgundy (Epoisses, Langres, Citeaux, Ami du Chambertin).
