Beaune Clos des Marconnets
1er Cru 2000

Grape Variety : Pinot Noir

Soil : Limestone with clay

Site : "Les Marconnets" are located on the hill in the Northern hint of the Appelation Beaune 1er Cru. The name of this vineyard referred to the german tribe "Marcomans". Chanson owns 4 ha, i.e, 40% of the vineyard.

The Vintage 2000 : After a quick bud burst, followed by an early flowering period (beginning of June), some rain and cool temperatures in July slowed down the ripening of the grapes. Good weather at the end of the summer and a prolonged hot period in early September, which ensured good concentration of the juice. Aging in cask during 12 months.

Tasting : Ruby colour. Aromas of red berries in jam on spicy and vanilla notes. Charming, elegant and well-balanced. Aromatic combination of plum and candied cherries enhanced by a delicate oak note. Harmonious, supple, good tannic structure and good persistance.

Food pairing : To be enjoyed with white or red meat, grilled or roasted, games and all sorts of cheeses especially all the cheeses produced in Burgundy (Epoisses, Langres, Citeaux).
