Chassagne-Montrachet Clos Saint Jean
1er Cru 2006

Grape Variety : Chardonnay

Soil : Limestone with clay, white marl and silica

Site : The vineyards of "Clos Saint Jean" are located on mid slope immediately above the village of Chassagne-Montrachet. It ranks among the best Premiers Crus of this village.

The Vintage 2006 : The weather at the start of summer was quite demanding. However, the sun appeared at the end of August and continued throughout September. The harvest commenced in mid-September in perfect conditions. Careful selection of grapes in the vineyard and winery have produced beautiful white wines with fantastic acidity. Aged in French oak for 10 months.

Tasting : Pale gold colour. Aromas of grapefruit mixed with almond, honey and vanilla. Well-structured, complex and well-balanced. Well-integrated minerality and subtle oak notes. Good persistence.

Food pairing : To be enjoyed with fish (salmon), seafood and some goat cheeses.
