Grape Variety : Chardonnay
Soil : Clay and limestone
Site : Chablis is in the Northern part of the Burgundy region. The "Premier Cru Montée de Tonnerre" is located North East of the village of Chablis in the vicinity of the Grands Crus. A particularly well-situated plot has been selected for this wine which ranks among the best Premiers Crus of Chablis.
The Vintage 2008 : After a very warm spring, the weather at the start of summer was quite demanding. It became fine again from the end of August with much sun and a north wind, which aided concentration of flavours. The harvest commenced in mid-September in perfect conditions under an Indian summer. Careful selection of grapes in the vineyard and winery has produced very pure white wines, well-balanced with fantastic acidity. Aged in demi-muids during 8 months.
Tasting : Pale gold colour. Floral fragrances mixed with refreshing citrus fruit aromas. Well shaped minerality. Complex and well-structured without being burly. Beautiful aromatic combination. Tense acidity. Bright minerality with oyster shell marine flavours. Long aftertaste.
Food pairing : Pâté, lobsters and poultry as well as many goat cheeses.
