Beaune Grèves
1er Cru 2006
Grape Variety : Pinot Noir
Soil : Gravel and sand mixed with clay
Site : On the Mont Battois hillside, facing Beaune, the name "Grèves" derives from the sandy and gravely soil. Separated from the Clos des Fèves by a narrow path this Chanson vineyard covers 2 hectares
The Vintage 2006 : The weather at the start of summer was quite demanding. However, the sun appeared at the end of August and continued throughout September. The harvest commenced in mid-September in perfect conditions. Careful selection of grapes in the vineyard and winery have produced beautiful wines with very pure aromas. Aged in French oak for 12 months.
Tasting : Dark ruby colour. Intense aromas of red fruit and violet mixed with spicy nuances. Subtle vanilla note. Well-structured and well balanced. Beautiful aromatic combination. Well-integrated oak and fine tannins. Good persistence.
Food pairing : It is perfectly matched with red meat grilled or en sauce, and all cheeses, especially the local cheeses like Epoisses or Citeaux.
