Beaune Grèves
1er Cru 2005
Grape Variety : Pinot Noir
Soil : Gravel and sand mixed with clay
Site : On the Mont Battois hillside, facing Beaune, the name "Grèves" derives from the sandy and gravely soil. Separated from the Clos des Fèves by a narrow path this Chanson vineyard covers 2 hectares
The Vintage 2005 : Harvest took place in the early days of September after a dry and very hot summer after a superb growing season - long and cold winter followed by a rainy and humid spring. Exceptional weather conditions for an exceptional vintage. Full maturation of the grapes and good concentration. Aging in oak cask during 13 months.
Tasting : Dark ruby colour. Intense aromas of cooked red fruit mixed with toffees and spicy nuances. Subtle vanilla note. Well-structured, ample, generous. Beautiful aromatic combination. Well-integrated oak and solid tannins. Good persistence.
Food pairing : It is perfectly matched with red meat grilled or en sauce, and all cheeses, especially the local cheeses like Epoisses or Citeaux.
