Beaune Grèves
1er Cru 2003

Grape Variety : Pinot Noir

Soil : Gravel and sand mixed with clay

Site : On the Mont Battois hillside, facing Beaune, the name "Grèves" derives from the sandy and gravely soil. Separated from the Clos des Fèves by a narrow path this Chanson vineyard covers 2 hectares

The Vintage 2003 : An exceptionally early harvest end of August due to an outstanding hot summer. Grapes were extremely well mature with high concentration. Very low yields. Grapes had to be cooled down before pressing.

Tasting : Bright ruby colour. Intense aromas of cooked red fruit (raspberry) mixed with a hint of chocolate. Outstanding vanilla note. Ample, generous, with a good aromatic combination. Well-integrated tannins. Good persistence.

Food pairing : It is perfectly matched with red meat grilled or en sauce, and all cheeses, especially the local cheeses like Epoisses or Citeaux.
