Beaune Grèves
1er Cru 2002

Grape Variety : Pinot Noir

Soil : Gravel and sand mixed with clay

Site : On the Mont Battois hillside, facing Beaune, the name "Grèves" derives from the sandy and gravely soil. Separated from the Clos des Fèves by a narrow path this Chanson vineyard covers 2 hectares

The Vintage 2002 : The harvest took place at the end of September, several days after the official beginning of the harvest in order to obtain the best possible maturation of the berries. Excellent weather conditions prevailed in August and September and hence the good quality of the grapes. A severe pruning had been carried out in July 2002 to limit yields. Aging in oak casks during 18 months.

Tasting : Bright ruby colour. Flora aromas (peonies) enhanced by a hint of vanilla. This wine is delicate and seductive. It develops beautiful floral fragrances mixed with red berries. It is complex, concentrated with a lovely balance and a good persistence.

Food pairing : It is perfectly matched with red meat grilled or en sauce, and all cheeses, especially the local cheeses like Epoisses or Citeaux.
