Aloxe-Corton 2002
Grape Variety : Pinot Noir
Soil : Limestone and clay
Site : The vineyard is located at the foot of the Corton hill famous for the exceptional quality of its wine
The Vintage 2002 : The harvest took place at the end of September, several days after the official beginning of the harvest in order to obtain the best possible maturation of the berries. Excellent weather conditions prevailed in August and September and hence the good quality of the grapes. A severe pruning had been carried out in July 2002 to limit yields. Aging in oak casks during 18 months.
Tasting : Ruby red with vermillon nuances. Aromas of red fruit mixed with melted chocolate flavours and enhanced by a hint of vanilla. This wine has breed and is representative of the Aloxe Corton terroir. Intense aromatic combination on the fruit, concentrated, well-balanced with a subtle oak note and elegant tannins with no sharp ends. Good persistence.
Food pairing : Poultry, game, grilled meat as well as all the local cheeses (Epoisses, Langres...).
